Best Scritp Pencils Of 2013

Posted by PicasaThis was another best of for 2013.I picked up this zippered case with all 1950s K780s and and K770s. I have since cleaned them up and moved some around but still this was a great fine. The original Scripto K780 was one of the best pencils ever made and is a classic that needs to be in every pencil collection. Add one today.

Best BIC Student Pack Ever

We have been showing plenty of new and old BIC pens on the blog and here is one of the best. This Student Bargain Pack on the right is my all time favorite BIC pen set. There is just something about the color combinations that you do not see in other BICs here in the USA. Four blue pens, two black, one green and one red. These are the only ones that I know of where you have two tone with the barrel a different shade from the cap. Hard to find and not cheap. The AF49 on the left is also a great pen to have. Add them all to your collection.

Best Pens For 2013

Hard to pick but I had the most fun with these. A Parker Jotter with a calendar from days long gone. This is in fact a new Parker Jotter from India. I finely got my Dad's Parker 51 working and what a great pen.Posted by Picasa  Turns out to be my best fountain pen. Hallmark felt tip pen. Don't know what type of wood this one is made of but it is not walnut like most my other Hallmarks. Next is a great new pencil with an old name. Wearever 0.5mm pencil from Rad and Hungry.  A Hero 360 fountain pen. I like this one because no matter how you pick it up the pen will writes.Very fine point. Last is my Christmas present for this year. A Parker 5th. Not sure why Parker thinks this is not a fine point felt tip pen with metal guide but it is still fun to write with. Add all these great pens and pencils to your collection. Can't wait till 2014.

Pentel Side Clickers

Most of these great pencils have been seen before but I have never had the 1980s complete set of five clear PD 245s all together. The problem has always been the hard to find green pencil. The book is the 1980s pentel catalog. These are some of the most collectible of all the Pentel pencils and still command high prices. Many new pentel collectors have gotten started collecting Pentel pencils by seeing them at blogs like Pencils 11. Germ was the best. Add these great pencils to your collection.Posted by Picasa

The great graphics on the front of the package glow in 3D when placed under a black light. From 1997. On the right are the BIC Tribals Wavelengths. There are five pens in this set. This one is a very popular and expensive set. Greta graphics on the pens. From 1991. Add both of these great BIC pens sets to your collection.Posted by Picasa

More Jotters!!

Her are two more Parker Jotters from India. On the left is the gold stainless steel pen which is just like the standard stainless steel one most of us already have in our collections except for the color. On the right is a Jotter with a real nice design. I believe this is one of three new designs sold in India. All the Jotters made and sold in India all seem to have very fine point refills. These two new pens will run about $10.00 each so add them to your collection.Posted by Picasa

Jacks Pocket Notebook

Posted by PicasaWhile looking for old 3" by 5" notebooks for the TV show Mad Men I came across Jacks Pocket Notebooks. I had never seen these before but I do know of the basic concept because in the Army we would sometimes make our own notebooks by using different size binder rings. We used plastic covers not these great aluminum covers. These are on eBay and there appears to be both the reporters like I have here and the rings down the left side. Four different color T 354 aluminum, different size rings, calendars, lined paper and blank paper like I am using. There are dividers like the one on the bottom right sheet of paper. I have been using my notebook for about three weeks and I love it. This notebook is 3" by 5" and I use a rubber band to keep it closed. My new fountain pen does not breed through the paper. These notebook are very simple yet work great. There are other options so search it on eBay and get yourself one for Christmas.

Hero 359 Fountain Pen

This is a first. The purple fountain is not a Lamy. It looks like one, parts are interchangeable, uses the same refills but it is not a Lamy. It is a Hero 359. When I was in Korea they would tell us not to buy a fake Rolex which were sold on every corner. I did anyway and it lasted about a week. This pen is not a fake Lamy but a Hero 359. It has Hero on the side of the pen. I bought this pen because I like purple and I like my Lamy Safari pens. This Hero came with a converter, six refills and so far writes just like my Lamy. It was half the price of a Lamy and I did buy another so I can see if there are any quality control problems. Some people do have a problem with a pen that looks like their Lamy but I believe the Chinese picked a successful pen and made their own. When Lamy comes out with a purple pen I will buy it. Hero has other colors but so does Lamy. So if you want to have a pen that looks like your Lamy but in purple then buy one. The most popular Hero 359 that they sell seems to be the purple one. They are on ebay. Posted by Picasa

New Parkers

Here we have two new Parker pens. The one on the left is a Jotter with the old style calender. The calender Jotter came out in 1966 but I do not remember seeing the calender on any recent Jotters. The calender works fine and it would be nice to see this model sold here in the USA. The pen on the right is a Parker Beta. This pen uses the Parker Jotter refill and is made of very light plastic. I do not see this one catching on here in the US. It looks nice but is not well constructed. Luxor Writing Instruments under licence from the Parker Pen company makes and sells these pens in India and Nepal. Both are nice examples of Parker pens being made in India and sold to their citizens. Add them both to your collection. Running out of days to get in on the Christmas give away. Posted by Picasa

More Old Stuff

Here we have more items just added to the collection. Top left is a vintage cast iron note holder spike. Maybe from the 40s. They were very popular in their day. Next is a Sterling Plastic eraserpet item number #637. Unlike 99% of Sterling Plastic items that are made in the USA this item was made in Japan. Then we have the Empire Snappy Pencils. Late 60s or early 70s. Don't remember this packaging but this one is in great shape. At the bottom is a very nice Artista water colors. Made by the Binney & Smith Inc. New York. This one holds 8 colors and I do remember using something like this in school. Box is in great shape. Then we have the Ruby Chisel Point Eraser display by Eberhard Faber. I placed the ruler below it so you can see how small this display is. I would guess you get five erasers for .10 cents and it is in great condition. Add all these great items to your collection. Don't forget to leave a comment for our Christmas give away. Great items are being added daily.  Posted by Picasa

Para Cord BICs

We are talking about the ten regular blue ink BICs in the middle. Someone decided to take different color para cord and place it inside the BIC barrel to produce these ten different color BIC pens. I have used para cord for years to make lanyards for knives but never for the inside of BIC pens. If you would like a set of these pens you can contact the maker at gateman42@hotmail.com. Add them to your collection.Posted by Picasa

Emca 110 Sharpener

Don't know much about this one. I would bet from the 70s maybe but could be older. The sharpener has three distinctly different taper lengths. This sharpener has a handy desk stand to place it in or you can just put it in your pencil case or pocket. This item was sent to me from the great people over at Mad Men. Add one to your collection. Posted by Picasa

New BIC 4 Ways

It has been some time since we could say that something new was coming to our stores from BIC. Five new BIC 4  way pens. The picture only has four and it is the silver green that I am missing. In the picture is the silver purple, silver pink, silver blue and the silver gray. As I said I am missing the silver green. These new ones are all made in France. I already have the BIC 2 way in most of these colors but I did not know that we would be getting new 4 ways and just in time for the holidays. Add them all to your collection.

NEW METALIC BIC 4 WAYS ARE NOW AT STAPLES!!!

Twiggy Pens

I do wish I had this display. I currently only have one carded Twiggy pen and they are not cheap. I don't know if someone owns this display or it is just a picture from the past but it is a nice example of a 60s counter top display. If you can find a Twiggy pen add it to your collection. They are very easy to refill so if you can find one you can start using it.

New BICs For The Collection

Here are more BICs for the collection. Some are hard to find like the Pack of BIC Whirls on the right side and the two T-Rex BICs on the bottom. Its hard to believe there are so many BICs out there. Want to that Cherry over in Thailand for all these great BICs. Add them all to your collection.Posted by Picasa

More Pen Storage

This one is used but still in good condition. It looks like it may have been used as a display for cosmetics at one time. These type of plastic pen displays are not cheap and hard to find so if I can fit it in my collection I will. This one has six non removable shelves. Each of the shelves has nine compartments. I am currently using the display just to lay out loose pens and pencils until I find their permanent home. I am running out of space down here so there is always plenty of work as I try and find the best way to display my collection. All cabinets like this to your collection. Posted by Picasa

More Loose Items

Posted by PicasaHere we have more loose items that just seem to show up down in the supply room.  On the left is one of four Godzilla erasers.  Top center is a Pentel metal pen box showing the outline of a Pentel R-50.  The R-50 has been the go to office pen overseas for years.  Not sure what was in this gold color case but it works fine for my remaining R-50s.  Below the Pentel are the Featherwriter II felt tip red pens from the Blackfeet Indian Writing Company. None of them work but a nice piece of pen history.  On the right are a nice BIC school set which includes a 0.7mm pencil and a BIC Whirl pen.  Add all these great pens and pencils to your collection.

Nice Lindy Pen

Not only does the pen work fine but the plastic box just looks like it came right out of the 50s or early 60s. This pen is headed to Mad Men to get some camera time. The Lindy ball point retractable pens were not as well known as the Lindy Stick pens but Lindy did have at least 10 different models if not more. I may do a post about the different models of retractable pens that Lindy made. I have managed to get at least one of each type of Lindy pens working at one time or another and they all have turned out to be good pens. This gold pen was used for advertising for a radio station. Add all the great Lindy pens to your collection.Posted by Picasa

More Scripto Wordmasters

I had to jump when I saw this great Scripto Wordmaster counter top display with 12 pencils for sale. Just over $60.00 bucks. This is my second Wordmaster display and most all the pencils work fine after 67 years. The cardboard display is in great condition so the price was right. I have already given one pencil away. These pencils have gold plated clips, bands and points. The original price was $1.00. May have a give-away real soon on one of these great pencils. Add them to your collection. Posted by Picasa

Another Great TI Calculator

Here is a nice inexpensive TI 1025 calculator. This is another of the TI calculators that have the large fluorescent numbers and not the normal small red numbers that I can't see anymore. These calculators were introduced in 1977 and were made in El Salvador, Hong Kong, Spain and the US. This particular one was made in El Salvador and came with a power cord and instructions. This one works well for general calculating so pick one up and add it to your collection.Posted by Picasa

Office Size Clam Paper clipper

Posted by PicasaI don't know how many people have used these Clam clips but this big office version was new to me. I use my standard Clam dispenser all the time and you can still get them at JetPens or Ebay but I do like this large desk model. I have used it at my desk and it works fine. Everybody should have one at your desk and the smaller one in your bag. This larger desk model was issed through US Goverment channels. Replacment clip can be bought through Ebay but I have found that after a while you start to keep track of the clips so you never run out. Add one to your collection.

Monami Love Pet Pens

Posted by PicasaWhat a great set of 0.38mm pens. These 10 pens all have a picture and name of a pure breed dog like Golden Retriever and Jack Russell Terrier. The pen case which is plastic states Picnic Love Pet on the front with pictures of some dogs. Monami is a Korean company and since 1960 has been their big leader in the pen area. Their basic pen like a BIC is known by all Koreans. These 0.38mm pens are a new item to me and are equal to the other 0.38mm pens that out there. If you like 0/38mm fine point pens that come in a real nice case with dogs then this set is for you. They are currently on eBay so pick yourself up a set.

New From JetPens

The Pentel Tradio has always been one of my favorite pens from Pentel and I have most of the EnerGel ones, the fountain pen and the 0.05mm pencil which are on the left. Now they come out with a complete new line which is available on JetPens. These on the right are smaller then the originals and are made of hard plastic that feels like it could break. They all use the same EnerGel refills. To replace refills just unscrew the tip which is different from the originals which unscrewed at the mid point of the pen. They come in both black and white body colors. These are good pens but they do not have the feel of the originals. On the far right is a Pilot pencil and a pocket microscope all from JetPens. Add them all to your collection.Posted by Picasa
