Will my BIC pen collection ever stop growing? I am currently at about 420 pens with no end in sight. Here are more new BIC 4 ways. On the left is the 1995 Jewel collection clear blue 4 way and the three original 4 ways. As you can see there is no hole on top. Next are the same three originals but with holes on top. Then we have two purple and two blue BIC 4 ways with rubber grips. One has the basic four colors and the other the pastel colors. I did not see that coming. When BIC first added the pastel colors to a 4 way they put it in a lime green body. I have been told that there may be as many as ten new color bodies in the new BIC 4 way with grips. If BIC is offering pastels then we may have twenty new BIC 4 ways out there. Next is the Hello Kitty 4 way and the short version of the original with hole. Last are the BIC 2 ways. First four colors are metallic purple, blue, silver and pink. Then the original pink 2 way and the clear orange plastic 1995 Jewel collection 2 way. Add them all to your collection.
I love the short one! had never seen it. I remember from my elementary school years that these pens were very popular and did not have the hole on top.
ReplyDeleteToday I went to get some new pens and just saw the metallic colors for the first time, but they were four ways. Can you confirm if the metallic barrel is really metal or just plastic with a metal finish?
They are all plastic. Where did you see then at the store?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, I think I will skip the metallic finish because I am constantly playing with my pens in my hands and carrying them in my pants pocket and don't think that finish will last.
ReplyDeleteI saw them at my local office depot (I live in Mexico).
About the ones with the rubber grip, I would like to get the black one but here we only get the blue one for medium point and orange for fine point. It's curious to see that these grip pens are made in Japan, every other multipen from bic I have seen is made in France. I would have loved if Bic offered a new ink formula in the grip pens, something smooth like the Jetsreams.
Email me at moose@hot.rr.com. I may be able to get you the black grip with gray top BIC. All the grip ones are made in Japan.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection and great blog! Can you help me find the blue and orange barrel rubber grips? A friend sent me the purple grip. I'm hoping to finish my collection!
ReplyDeleteI would have to think where the blue one came from. I do not have a grip orange BIC but I am looking. Also note that there are two of each color. Pastels and standard red, blue, green and black. I will post as soon I a know where blue grips can be found. All the pens to include the metallics are plastic.
ReplyDeleteMetallic ones are at Sam's club in blue, green, silver, purple and pink
ReplyDeleteGreen ones are the hard ones to fine. Let's all get to Sams club.
ReplyDeleteWell, here I am again almost a year later. Sorry for not responding to your kind offer, I just never logged into blogger again and forgot to check. I must say I feel a bit ashamed for it now. I think it would just be unreasonably expensive considering the shipping cost and taxes. I am under the impression that I saw it at a local store, but may be it's just my memory playing games on me.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the reason I came back is that this pen was posted on reddit. I had never seen one like it and thought you may be interested or can provide some insight. I guess it is/was possible to get them in different colors for promotional purposes, but the choice of just blue is the most unusual thing for me.
By the way, I should have gotten at least one in metallic colors, the bug of multipens just got inside me and I can't find them anywhere now and still kinda would like to get it in silver. I have been trying the newer ink systems from paper mate (here the Ink Joy system is marketed as "kilometrico" because it can write longer than standard gels, I guess) and zebra in the z quad and they are so smooth.
Thank you so much for your kindness and blog.
