Anyone who follows this blog knows that I have a very large Sterling Plastic collection. Sterling Plastic made many of the school and office supplies in the 60s and 70s. All US made. One of the most popular items were the roll top pencil boxes. Starting on the left is the box I just received. A orange and yellow SP #526. Next is my other SP #526 pencil box. Two on the right are the Hasbro roll top models.
I don't think the roll top boxes were real durable because the prices on these are high compared to the other SP boxes. They do however seem to hold up in the Supply Room. I have been keeping pencils and pens in my boxes.
Great boxes. I don't know what other colors they came in.
This new one is in good condition except for some marks on the bottom. Lid retracts just fine and someone will get plenty of good use out of this box.
Here are the Hasbro boxes. Both in great shape and ready to use. No model number on these boxes. Add them all to your collection.

We have added a few new ones to the growing collection. Top right I have add a second clear with green components and a new clear with dark pink components. These are from Mexico. What is good for collectors is that there are currently four or five more of the pink ones for sale on eBay. I think the top row is about complete. I have not been putting the all metal side clicker in these pictures. Rubber grip ones on the second row there may be one or two that I am missing but no picture to confirm.
Here they are along with the grey Popnpop pencil. Add all these great pencils to your collection.

They do things different overseas. There the BIC pen company let customers pick out their favorite pens and the company put them in one package. Here in Texas these type BIC pens with the two tone caps are sold at out local grocery store HEB. The pens are first look the same as the ones sold in the US but the plug matches the cap color. Here the same color blue plug is used in all the pens.
Made overseas. Add these pens to your collection.

Here we have all the Orenz pencils to date except a few of the two tone pencils. Starting on the left you have the all metal PP1002G, orange rubber grip PP603G, two of the original pencils PP503, PP502 then the two tones pencil, PP502, and two PP503s. Now we add the Black 0.5mm PP505 and the Blue 0.7mm pencil PP507. The leads are very hard to break with this new Pentel mechanism.
The two new ones are a welcome addition to my collection and for the Orenz lineup.
Pentel has now added a high end pencil to their great line of pencils. Here is the all metal Pentel PP3003 Orenznero. I think this new high end model only comes in black. I like fine point pencils and this one works great. Price is between $75.00 to about $110.00 where I could find them on the web. I paid about $100.00 and it got here from Japan in about a week and a half. This pencil also comes in 0.2mm.
This pencil makes using a 0.3mm pencil flat out fun. Add one to your collection.

Here are the new Blackwing Vol 205s. Chinese explorer Zhang Qian laid the foundation for the Silk Road in 138 BCE. You get six green jade pencils and six white jade pencils. To me these are the best set yet. I went and bought two boxes.
These pencils are a real collector item and will sell out quit. These pencils came from www.pencils.com. Add them to your collection.

Here are a few new and old items. Top is another R-7 with a SG75 pencil set. This is a 0.5mm pencil which is somewhat rare. I picked this set up dirt cheap while prices on eBay are going through the ceiling on these older Pentel pens and pencils.
This is just one pretty set. May start using this one.
Here we have a somewhat new BIC 4 way. BIC took the green out and put a yellow highlighter ink in it's place, works great. They also put in a green/yellow clear barrel. Last is a Kaweco-Sport fountain pen. My first Kaweco pen. Very smooth and came with five ink cartridges. Add them all to your collection.

You can always find a reason to re-invent a standard pen and this is what Pentel did with their EnerGel pens. These are the limited edition Pentel Cat Pens. The first ad I saw was for five pens but I ended up with six. Starting left to right we have the American Short Hair, the Abyssinian, the Red Tabby, the Bicolor Cat, the Siamese and last the Tortie and White. I like cats so I picked up all of them. Add all these cat pens to your collection.

Wearever Trans View mechanical pens were the alternative to the famous Scripto K780 in the 60s and early 70s. The Scripto won and has been very collectible over the years but so has the Wearever Trans View pencil. I had 13 and have just added a 14 which has a little different eraser holder. This new one appears to be brand new. What a find. These pencils came in blue, clear, yellow, green, orange and blue. The Wearever solid color along with the Scripto solid color pencils don't seem as collectible as the clear ones.
The new pencil is orange has a black enclosed cap for the eraser. I would bet that some of these have advertising on them. Scripto did the same thing as you can see in the last picture. All these pencils use the same size lead, 1.1mm and the same eraser. All my pencils work but because of their age some work better then others. Time and where they were stored plays a big part. This new Trans View does not have a removable pocket clip like the standard ones do.
Here is a Scripto advertising pencil along side the Wearever Trans View. Add all these great pencil to your collection.

How long has it been since BIC came out with the BIC 4 Way pen? In the old days it was a blue barrel for medium point and orange barrel for fine point. Now I have about 55 different barrels not counting this new pen. BIC took away the green ink and replaced it with a 0.7mm pencil. Added the grey rubber grip on a clear barrel and you have one of the best new pens for 2017.
Works like any of the new multi pens on the market.
Basic instructions that will show you how to add one new piece of 0.7mm lead.
I have been using this pen all week and it works. everybody had a BIC 4 Way pen. Add this new one to your collection.

Here is a updated picture of my P200 collection. New one in this case is the Blue P217 bottom right. That completes that set of three.
In this case the top row is just about all new. the eight from Switzerland and the completion of the four marbled P205s. Bottom row starts with some new P205s and extra P205s, P2017s and P209s. I have these out because there is a new blog that lovers of Pentel 200s need to go look at, www.nimrodd.net. This blog is the place to go for detailed information on the P200 series of Pentel pencils. Jimmy, the creater of this blog visited down in the Supply Room a few weeks ago and brought most of his collection along so we were able to lay both collections out. A little trading went on and plenty of good discussion about Pentel pencils. Always nice to show off the Supply Room and see other collections.
Here on the top row are some of the new ones. Add all these great pencils to your collection and visit www.nimrodd.net.

The date was February 9, 1964 and I was a kid sitting in from of the TV with the rest of the family eating dinner on TV trays. We were all watching the Ed Sullivan show on Sunday night.
I had to wait till 2017 to get a Beatles ball point pen.
This pen is in good shape. I don't know what these pens sold for but it could not have been to much. Pen uses a standard refill and if replaced it would work today.
Pocket clip has the four faces on it and is a little bent but who isn't after 50 years.the clip.

We had some visitors come down from Dallas this past weekend and had a very good time. It is always great when you can talk with collectors who appreciate Pentel Pencils. The first eight came from firstname.lastname@example.org in Zurich. I love the fluorescent yellow, green, orange and the pink.
The next four come out much better in this photo with the vertical lines highlighting both barrel and the grip. These colors work very well on one of the worlds best drafting and writing pencil. I am going to use some of these in the daily rotation.
The next one is the Pentel P217. Long time ago I had some of these and gave them all away. Not this time. Last pencil a white 0.3 Stein. Great looking pencil. I want to thank Jimmy and Rhonda for a very delightful day of talking stationary. Rhonda made a blog post of their visit that you can see at www.rhondaeudaly.com. If you can add all these great pencils to your collection do so.

Here is a bunch of old Papermate Flair Pens. I checked all the pens and none of them work. I can however get the refillable Flair bottom left working by using a Acme or Foray roller ball refill with about 3/4" of an old metal refill pushed into the back end. They work fine and you will be bring a old Papermate back to life. All these Flairs are from the late 60s and early 70s. Disposable Flairs were first make in 1966.
Most of the time we look at the front of the package with very little regard for the back where the instructions and information is listed.
Its fun to read these old backs to see what was happening at that time in pen history and how the company was promoting their pens. Add them all to your collection.

While the pencil does work the key here is the roller. This pen uses the The Pentel RMJ8 refill or as it is called the jumbo refill. I havs bought so many of these just to have the ball break or no ink left. I found a few that work so I pulled the matching pencil out and put them in the daily rotation.
Here is the RMJ8 refill. Have any for sale let me know. Pentel does not make the Jumbo anymore. Add these great pens and pencils to your collection.

This is a great new color for the Lamy Al-Star. Pacific Blue they call it. It writes just like all the Lamy roller ball pens do but I would guess that many of you will be buying the fountain pen not the roller. I may do the same. The best deals on these pens seem to be at www.penchalet.com. That is where this pen came from.
All this Pacific Blue Lamy to your collection.
