Back on 9 July, 2009 I posted this cardboard counter display with four Wearever Trans-Vue pencils. I posted four because that's all I had. Now I can show you what a complete display from the 60s looks like. I am not sure anybody has a complete set like this. Most people have never seen these pencils before. It took since last July to find eight more of these great pencils from the 60s. I have orange, yellow, red, green and clear. I have not seen any other colors. All of these work, some better then others. Very close to the Scripto K780, used 1.1mm lead and the same eraser. All of them should be in your collection.
Congratulations on completing your display set! I had certainly not seen these pencils before.
ReplyDeleteNeither have I. I've also never actually used a mechanical pencil with a lead larger than .7mm. I wasn't aware they made them in thicker diameters. I'll have to keep an eye out for some 1+ mm versions since I enjoy sketching in pencil but find most mechanical pencils are only good for detail work and not for shading.

You would have had to be around in the 60s for these pencils. I do not have any extra of these but I may have an extra Scripto K-21 laying around. They are nice 1.1mm pencils. Just e-mail me.
ReplyDeleteI used these pencils when I was just a school kid, but had totally forgotten them until seeing them here.
ReplyDeleteEnjoying your site. Just found it today. Used to be a total pen/pencil geek, and I guess I still am. ;-)
I also used those great Wearever pencils and I am glad you like the blog.
