I have already posted my Pilot and Pentel writing or school packs but I just got this Papermate one in. By far the most items of the three and for only $6.99. This Papermate set does have about all a person would need to get started and is displayed in a well designed package. Three erasers with two of them being click advance erases that I did not have. Four highlighters, Eight pencils and four packages of lead. Three Erasermate pens, six Profile pens and two gel pens. What else do you need? Add one to your collection.

New JetPen Order

As I have said before you always need some new items to counter the old items so here is my JetPen order. Lets start with my Campus Binder Notebook. This is my second one and I do like them. My three new Rotrings, Rapid pro ball point, a 300 2.0mm and a Tikky Liner 0.7mm. All are great but have had some issues with how slow the refill kicks in on the Tikky Liner. Last is a Tombow Olno pencil. It works as advertised. Last some refills. All are great items to add to your collection.

80s Pentels

All of the pens in this picture are listed in my copy of the 1984 Pentel catalog but not the pencils which are the four on the right. Starting on the left is the RBH1 Pentel superball refillable pen. Next are the three, 02mm,03mm and the 0.4mm Ceramicron SR10 refillable pens. Then the SR120 refillable pen and the four matching P125 0.5mm pencils in four colors. The only pens missing from the picture are my SR305 in green and my Excalibur RXT20 Technica Ball. All of these pens can use the standard MG8 rollerball refill or the Ceramicron refills. Add all these classic Pentels from the 80s to your collection.

2012 BIC Give Away

These BIC Accountant Pens seem to be hard to find so I picked up three boxes with the idea of a give-away. All BIC collections need one of these. They are all brand new and they have the old fashion fine point in red ink. More Lindy Pens

The third most popular post here in the supply room has been Lindy Pens. Lindy stick non refillable 460m pens have been one of my favorite pens of all time. I remember going to the local store in the 60s and early 70s and seeing the Lindy display with at least 12 different colors. The one color that I am still looking for is orange. In the picture you will see a rare Lindy display from the late 40s to early 50s. The display that I remember is in the top right of the picture. This old cardboard display shows the four basic colors that Lindy had at the time. It was some years later when they added the other colors. This is the first Lindy cardboard counter top display that I have ever seen. Non working Lindy pens are currently going for about $10.00 a piece on EBay so you can see that this display was not cheap. Well worth the cost if you are the Lindy pens biggest fan. Add them all to your collection.

All My BICs

Well not all of them but close. BIC pens have been one of the most popular posts here in the supply room so I thought we would just start off the new year and lay them all out at one time. Most have been posted as I got them but there are a few new items in the picture. The two main groups are the BIC Cristals and the BIC Wavelengths. Most of the never posted pens are wavelengths. The BIC company seems to have made a large number of variations to the wavelengths. My wavelengths that glow in the dark are not in the picture but in the middle row of the picture are the wavelengths that are called Color Shifts. The barrel changes color when to put them in your hand. Another new one is the Color Beams and I am not sure what they do other then write. There is also a large number of variations of these pens and their packaging from overseas. The purple case that goes from left to right across the table is the 1995 Jewel Collection from BIC France. There does not seem to be an end to the different types of BIC pens so I will not say add them all just what you can find.

My Super Magic Diary

Here we have a working My Super Magic Diary JD-6500 made by Casio. Never seen one before. I would think this item is from the early 90s, made for a child and has a digital pet dog of some type. I have been collecting some selected calculators and 8 track tape players so I added this one to the collection. This device keeps the time, has an alarm, telephone directory, calendar, fortune telling and match making, pet mode and you can send messages between two of these devices by infrared light. The instruction manual is 71 pages long. Add one to your collection if you have the time.

What Else For Christmas

Another item I got for Christmas was my third set of Scripto matic pens from the 50s. My last post was on September 28, 2010 where I posted my second set of these great pens. When you look at the older post you will see why I picked these up. My other two sets all have white push buttons on top. These have the hard to find red buttons. Plus there are three new colors, darker blue, brown and a forest green. The card is not in that good of shape but it does have more info out front then the other sets. Model number for these pens are T707s. Add them all to your collections.

1954 First Year Parker Jotter

I am sure we will all be hearing what we got for Christmas so here is what I got. A 1954 First Year Parker Jotter. Looks close to the current model but there are some differences. No feather on the pocket clip and the barrel is ribbed with no metal tip. Some differences on the inside but still uses the same refill. Great Pen!!! I am not sure where the collection will go from here. They may be more colors and there are some different model over the past 50 years. Add them all to your collection.

Sheaffer Soft Stroke Pen

I have been collecting these carded Sheaffer pens and pencils from the 60s and 70s for some years but do not remember these Soft Strokes. They came out around 1968 because the free pen advertised on the card expires on March 31, 1969. I took one out and it is like a Papermate Flair Pen which came out in 1966. I seems that these Sheaffers just did not catch on but one should still be in your collection.

We are starting to have a large BIC pen and pencil collection. These four BIC Pens are nice. Solid color bodies and all write in black ink. This surprised me because pens like these from BIC tend to use the same color ink as the body. All have black ink, 1.0mm point and Easy Glide printed on the side. Made in France but for the Chinese or Japanese market. All of these are now being used. Great Pens. I have more old BIC coming soon and I may lay all these great BIC pens and pencils out together. Add them all to your collection.

BICs From Canada

Here we have a great 1980s carded BIC pen set featuring Wayne Gretzky. This is a great set of three BIC crystals with the old style smaller hole in the caps. There are also two different rollers. This card is in great shape and made in Canada. I bought this card from a company that sells sports stuff so it was kept in great shape. Don't see BIC carded pens with real faces on them anymore. Add this card to your collection.

Pac-Man New and Old

Here we have the new Moleskine Pac-Man 30th Anniversary notebook with plain paper. I plan on using the notebook this next year. I do remember playing Pac-Man in the 80s so to go along with the notebook I added the 1980s Pac-Man erasers. These three are in great condition and will be great additions to the growing collection. Papermate Zodiac Pens

Back on 15 October of this year I showed my first Papermate Zodiac Pen and here we are on the 1st Of December with four more papermate zodiac pens still on their cards. These are great old pens. The cards show a date of 1969 so they were introduced right after the Papermate Ops N Pops pens in 1968. Of all the posts this past year I will have to rate the Zodiac pens up toward the top. A newly discovered everyday pen from 1969/1970. As you can see the original price was $1.59. I paid about $10.00 per pen. I can live with the $10.00 cost because the earlier Ops N Pops are now running at about $200.00 each. They were also a $1.50 pen in 1968. Add them all to your collections. What a nice Christmas present.

More BIC Pens

Here we have more new and old BIC pens. I went to Wallmart today because over at the Pen Addict he had said he found the new Sharpie pen there. Well I found the Sharpie pen but since I already had two of them I did more looking and found this new pack of BIC pens in different colors. About time BIC. These are all nice pens, great colors and I will be looking for more of these. You can never have to many BICs. The BIC clics are old stock. Late 80s or early 90s I would think. They worked after I put in the new refills. Add all of these to your collection.

More Zebras

Here are some of my new Zebras that I have not had time to open yet. Most you have seen before but the last two on the right I just picked up at Staples. The 301 ball point pen in the red body are nice. They also come in blue. The ones that are going to be opened soon are the 301 roller ball pens. They use the same refill as the fountain pen and there are two of them in the package. Add then all to your collection and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Panasonic RQ-830S 8-Track Player

Who did not have one of these? This Panasonic from the early 70s has to be my favorite 8 track tape player. I have eight working ones but this one is the most fun. I have had the player for some time but have been missing the box, instructions, warranty, and power cord. Then I find this seller on EBay who sells copies of all the paperwork, includes a power cord and makes a box that looks just like the original. Less then $12.00 bucks and I now have the complete set. Can't have old pens and pencils without one of these, add it to your collection.

Parker Jotter Number #21

I have always liked the Parker Jotter but it has only been in the past 10 years or so that we get this explosion of color. The new Jotter on the right on the card has a clear/red barrel. Made in England where I would guess all these jotters are made now. The last two in the case are the purple 50th anniversary jotter and next to it is the clear/purple barrel. I saw a clear/blue jotter on eBay so I will continue to add colors as I find them. Add all 21 to your collection.

Pentel PD 345 and PD 505

One of the key pencils that got me started in collecting on a large scale was the Pentel PD 345. I was in Germany in the 70s when I first saw the Pentel PD 345 downtown at my local stationary store. At one time I had all the original colors but over time I have lost a few of them. Now we jump to 2011 and what do I see over at Germs Pencil 11 blog but a dozen stainless steel PD 505s with the green eraser and pin for lead breaks. Take one of Pentels best pencils and make it better and you have a PD 505. One of the best finds ever. Thanks Germ. Add them all to your collection.

Another JetPens Order

I was notified by email that the pencil case I wanted from JetPens was in so I ordered one and I also needed some 0.5mm lead. Then I saw some new items so I picked up a Red Uni-ball Woodnote Gel Ink Pen, and a Kitaboshi 2.0mm LEAD Holder. The Lihit Lab Teffa Pen Case is very nice and holds all you would need at school or work. I currently have 16 pens, pencils and highlighters in the case. Add them all to your collection.

Scripto Pencil

Here we have a dozen Scripto Trek 0.5mm pencils from 1991. This is another old scripto pencil that I did not have in the collection. I picked up a dozen so if one is needed in your collection just let me know. The pencil comes in four colors, white, black, red and blue and they all seem to have a sparkle about them, something in the colors. The pencil has a sliding sleeve and a twist eraser that is about one inch long. Model number is a P250. There is however another scripto pencil around that looks like a Pentel P205 and claims to be a P250. I will have to investigate. Overall a good plastic scripto pencil. More Orange BICs

Here we have a dozen BIC orange, 0.7mm Easy Glade pens. I have been watching these because non of the 25 plus Orange BICs that I have say easy glide on the side. I bought them from a seller in Korea but they are made in France. BIC France seems to be one of the leaders as far as new BIC items go and that is fine with me. So I have 12 more pens. If someone needs one for their collection just email me at moose@hot.rr.com and I will see what I can do. I do wish that BIC would start selling the orange fine point pen once again here in the US. It has been missed.

The People's Pen

Here we have two examples of a one of the best pens ever made. These Sheaffer Ball Point Pens are unique because it may have been the only period where Sheaffer called these pens the People's Pen. From 1971 to 1974 time frame. Bright colors were the standard in the early 70s. I had sent some of these Sheaffers to Mad Men because this pen has been around since the mid 60s. I do not remember what was going on for the introduction of the phase People's Pen. Many times pens made in the US during the 40s up through the early 70s reflected what was going on in our country and the world. The People's Pen was one of them. Add them all to your collection.

Another Old Papermate

Here we have four examples of the Papermate Contour Pen. The newest addition to the Supply Room is the one on the right. The Papermate Zodiac which was made from about 1970 to 1974. I was overseas during that time and completely missed these pens. There were 12 different pens, one for each sign and each had its own color. I have the Virgo. The first I knew about these pens was when I found these two magazine ads on the right. Last month one of the pens showed up on eBay. They are curently selling for about $25.00. Original prize was about $1.50. They are not as nice as the Ops N Pops which has the metal tip as you can see on the yellow one in the picture. I would think that a complete set of 12 would be something to see and I hope I see them someday down in the supply room. I only have 11 more to find. Add them all to your collection.

More Old Pencil Boxes

Here we have four old but new to the supply room pencil boxes. Made in the USA but not sure by who. The only words on this pencil box are "Admiration" and "Made in USA". All plastic with the pencil tray riding under the box. Only about three standard pencils and no room for a ball point pen in the tray. Has a pencil sharpener and the multiplication table with sliding top. I would guess from the 60s and I am sure they copied the Sterling Plastic box which is similar and was a lot more popular. Add them to your collection.

JetPens Order

It has been a while since I posted a JetPens order so here is my current haul. On the left is the Moleshine classic roller pen. Uni-ball red lead for my red Bel Bol 2mm pencil. A good Pentel eraser for a good cause. Ohto gel highlighter that works great. These last two items are very nice and I should have got both in black to go along with the white. Zebra Arbez Pirto ballpoint pen and pencil. The pencil has a great feel to it and it along with the pen work as expected from Zebra. Add them all to your collections.

Uni Mitsubishi and Give away

I picked up these two Mitsubishi Jumpop pens on eBay the other day because I had never seen them before. They have certainly never been on the shelves of any store here in Central Texas. As we have seen many of the pen companies like Cross and Zebra and others make a small pocket size pen and the Mitsubishi Jumpop pen is as good as any of them. I am using the orange one as I post this and it seems to work and write fine. If you need a small pocket size pen these will do the job. Not sure if they are still being made or not. Add them to your collection.

Scripto Duo-Point Magazine Pencils

Here is another great cardboard counter top display for a great Scripto duo point pencil. The ones on the display have never been used for 60 years. If you take a close look at the two on the bottom of the picture you will see that one is a different variation with the blue and red transparent like an original K780 twist pencil. The pencils look to be made of a lite aluminium with the blue and red tips made of plastic. All use 0.9mm lead. These are a real find and a great addition to my collection. Add them to yours.

Red Goose Give Away

Who did not wear Red Goose shoes growing up? Well maybe not many of you but I did. Some of the stores only sold Red Goose while others sold other makes. All kids got some kind of toy or in some cases a gold plastic egg with small toys inside. Sometimes you could get a small notebook like the ones in the picture. The notebooks have Friedman Shelby Shoes on the front and the Red Goose ad is on the back cover. I would think late 50s or early 60s. I will be giving away two of them so you notebook collectors get in line. Leave a comment by 1 Oct 2011 and if you have not signed up to be a follower then please do so. Plenty to look at in this picture. My collection of old pen and pencil ads is growing and they are great for researching all the old pen and pencils in my collection. I will say that this BIC ad is one of my favorite of all time. Published in the early 70s when I was out of the country this ads shows what was on the school supply shelves at your local stores. The Student Bargain Pack is indeed rare. Eight pens with ink color the same as the body of the pen. I have never seen any of these pens before. In some counties you can get similar pens but never like these. There is one more BIC ads that I am looking for and will own soon. Yes that is a new background that this stuff is sitting on. Cloth material with pens, pencils, rulers and compasses on it. Add the ad and all the pens to your collection.

The Hole Punch

Not alot to talk about here because we all have them and they have been around for many years. Here is my current collection of one hole punches. Some of these I just picked up. I do like the A&W carded one and it may be the oldest of the bunch. The older ones are made in the US and the newer ones overseas. The best ones have a catch plate under it to keep the paper holes for easy discard. The blue handled one on the right is the one I use the most. Add them all to your collection.

Here is the complete estate sale box of pens that I picked up. Have not had time to look through them all yet. Many are still available but with a updated card. Some are older then others. I would think this group is from the 80s to early 2000s. The BICs are nice which include some original yellow fine point pens and BIC rollers. I also have four Le Pens on cards. Blackfoot Indian pens still on their card is a great addition. The pens in the middle called Luv Marks were made in 1971. The Uni-ball pen made by Faber Castell is nice. I did not have a Faber Castell pen made by the Mitsubishi Pencil Company. These are all great pens and all are going into my growing collection. Add them all to yours.

Worlds Best Pencil Value?

At the time some 50 plus years ago these pencils may have been your best value. This is another great example of a cardboard counter display by a name brand pencil maker. Only missing a few pencils and someone put another type in there as well. Made by the Empire Pencil Company which is located in Shelbyville Tennessee. Pencils still work fine and this display and pencils were made in the USA. It is hard to picture these types of cardboard displays on the shelves today. Add them all to your collection.

Were You a Slick Teen in 1969?

If you were then you had all the Mod Designs for school in 1969 which would make you a Slick Chick. Notebooks, pencil box, three ring binders were all part of the Slick Teen ad. We have started to add plenty of these old magazine ads to our collection so add them to yours.

My Ruler Collection

I did say that I would post all of my plastic ruler collection and I got close but a few duplicates did not make it in the picture because I ran out of space. This collection covers the late 50s to the 80s with most from Sterling Plastic followed by Pedigree. I believe only one protractor is not made in the US. Protractors and rulers on the left side that are not carded are currently being used and do not forget that they can also be used as bookmarks. These type office and school items are getting harder to find and I encourage you to pick up a few of these before they are all gone. Over the years I have found them on eBay, garage sales and flea markets. Every school or office supply collection should also include a slide rule. These items are made of plastic, they do break so if you see them jump. This post has given me an idea for future posts which would include all my Sterling Plastic items and all my plastic pencil boxes. Add them all to your collection.

Pedigree and Friends

Here we have a great selection of old Pedigree school and office supplies. There is also a roll of Scotch brand Masking tape and a Eberhard Faber typewriter eraser. All these items are around 40 plus years old and still in great shape. Many of us have used these items in school and all were made here in the USA. In the few days we will have a large collection of pens from the 60s and 70s still on their cards or in their original packaging. These are all great items from our past. One of the most visited posts here at the supply room has been plastic rulers and since I have gotten more in we are going to lay them all out for you to see on our next post. Lets Add Some Staplers

Here we have a great selection of 40 plus year old staplers. All seem to be in good shape along with their packaging. Top left is a small hand held stapler made by Arrow Fastener Co. Next are three Bear Brand Co staplers made in Hong Kong. Followed by a small stapler called the Bambi made by the Rexel Office Products in Long Island City New York. Great picture of the father and kid. Last is one of my favorite staplers the Swingline TOT. Have used these TOT staplers for many years. All these staplers use the same small size staples. Last on the right is a great 4 pack of old erasers. Made in Taiwan. Add them all to your collection.

Christmas In August Part 2

Another good friend of mine here in Central Texas just got back from Greece. All items are Faber Castell except the green and brown Uniball Power Tank eco. Never seen one before and I do like the green and brown color. Perfect Pencil, Power Tank, some great wooden Faber Castell pencils, 2 more mechanical pencils, two roller ball pens and another mechanical pencil and a nice set with pencils, eraser and sharpener. Great job Robyn. The supply room keeps getting bigger. Add them all to your collection.

Christmas In August Part 1

My good friend Ricardo and I have been exchanging boxes of supplies over the past year and here is the one I just got in the mail. Most of the stuff is Faber Castell. Starting on the left is a Faber Castell perfect pencil, have two of these now. Next are a few Faber Castell pencil sharpeners and one by Maped, add in a few Faber Castell erasers. Plenty of Faber Castell pencils with friends. My wooden pencil collection is growing. Now what do I see? A new blue BIC 4 way in blue. They come in many colors but here in the USA I can only find the black one. Over at Pocket Blonde you can see a great review of this new 4 way pen. After the BIC is a large collection of pens and Faber Castell pencils plus some more erasers. Last take a look at the red Bel Bol 2mm pencil on the right. Great Haul. Thanks Ricardo. What were you doing in 1943? Down here in the supply room we have found a stack of ads for pens and pencils from the 1940s to the 1960s. Here is the first one. As she states in the ad," Metal and Rubber are so terribly scarce" That was because of WW2. Most of these ads are from the 40s and all of them seem to show or talk about the military as materials and supplies were in short supply. I will be posting one or two a week. Last Of The School Supplies

School starts today here in Central Texas and the sale signs are going up at all our stationary stores. I picked these items up today. The Mead 3/5 cards are standard and the Westcott erasers are nice because they are made from recycled materials. The item that I am most impressed with is the Avery See-Through Sticky Notes. This is the first time I have seen these and at $2.50 for 50 notes they are not cheap but they do work and work well. I will be going back to Office Max for more. I saw them in both pick and yellow. The Rifle pen is a souvenir from the Alamo which is down in San Antonio Texas. Nice place to go visit if you are in the area. Add them all to your collection.

More Mad Men

Here is another box of pens for Mad Men. They needed some color so I am sending these 1966 vintage Parker Touche pens. Originally the pens were felt tip but were converted to use the Jotter ball point pen refill. It seems Parker must of had some kind of problem getting the proper refills to stores so they just came up with a conversion kit. The five pens had the kit and instructions included. The others are more Sheaffer ball points and one set. Add them all to your growing collection.

School Supplies in 1968

Here we have a great two page ad for school supplies from the Westab Company in Dayton Ohio in 1968. I was 15 at the time this ad came out so I was using these items or something like them. Around 1968 was the start of stripes, psychedelic prints with flowers and paisley covered notebooks and binders. Papermate Ops N Pops pens also came out in 1968. What a year. I also sent a copy of this ad to Man Men because it does show what was on those school supply shelves in the 60s. Add all these school supplies to your collection.

New Plastic Box

Today I went by Lowes to pick up something for the house and never did find it. What I did find are these great plastic boxes with the colored pencils all over the top and sides. Does not look like the pencils will rub off. These boxes are about 12" long, 7" wide and 5" deep so they will hold plenty of stuff and down here in the supply room we have plenty of stuff. I am going back tomorrow and two more. $3.50 each. Add them to your collection.

70s Clipboard With Stickers

Here is a 70s clipboard with a yellow tint veneer finish. This was a very popular style clipboard in the 70s. A youngster put stickers all over the front and back. The clipboard was damaged in shipment so it currently does not work but still a nice item for the 70s collection. Will try and repair when I get time. Add one to yours.

Added One More

Thanks to a comment by Subgirl on my 29 July post we have added a clear tape dispenser model RS 7013 to our 80s collection. There is one button on top to move the tape along and a wheel to adjust the length of tape needed. This has been a great addition to the 80s look. The phone is now in use and the tape and stapler work fine. Add them all to your collection.

RF and I went looking for more school supplies and picked up some real nice new items. Left top is Jetpens Quick Dock pentel pencil followed by the standard ones found here in the US. Bottom are the new for this year clear colored US Quick Docks. I only found these three colors. Very nice pencils. Then we have the two pack of multi pens by Maped. GTC clear pencil top erasers. Bottom middle are the new Hot Wheels puzzle erasers. Next is a two pack of Maped black erasers. Last is a new pocket calculator from Office Depot. Go out there and add all this stuff to your collections.

More New and Old Stuff

We have three very different items here. On the left are new Hillary Duff pens. I also put the Scripto Twiggy refillable pen next to them so we can compare. Hillary Duff pens are as you would expect for cheap kids pens while the Scripto is made in the USA about 50 years ago and would have been a good pen for someone. On the right is a set of eight Lyra Colorstrip pencils that won the reddot design award for best of the best in 2009. I can see why, they are very nice looking pencils but all I am going to do is keep one of them for my collection and send the rest over to Ricardo. I will let others who use these type of pencils review them like over at Lung Sketching Scrolls. Bottom right is a pen that has been in my pocket for the past three weeks. Back on 20 July over at Office Supply Geek he review a Tactical Fountain Pen. I may have to get the roller ball. This blue Tactical pen which also comes in black and grey is nice. I prefer one that does not have a cap. Caps get lost. This pen is a one piece pen. You twist the bottom half into the top half and you can see the point and start writing. It uses Parker Jotter refills and can be used as a weapon because the top of the pen is serrated. Also on the very top is a small hole that has a glow in the dark insert. This pen has a extra long pocket clip so it fits in the shirt or the side pants pocket. The pen is heavy but is easy to write with. A friend of mine just left to go back to Iraq and I gave him one to take along. After 21 years in the Army I can tell you that our everyday pens and pencils do not work as well when you are in the sand like I was during Desert Storm or during a winter in Germany. Mad Men Again

Some of our blogging friends in the pen and pencil area have gotten real jobs because of their blogs. Well down here in the old supply room we also have another job. Providing school and office supplies to the TV show Mad Men. This is our second year. This post is just some of the stuff headed off to Los Angeles. We also repair old pens and pencils that the staff find and verify dates that the pens and pencils were made. This is fun work. Filming of season 5 starts next week but it will not air till next March. I always have a hard time watching the show because I am trying to see the pens and pencils in the actors hands or on their desks. This is a great show that takes place in the 60s. If you have not seen it rent the DVDs and watch the pens and pencils.

School Supplies 2011

Went out looking at some new school supplies and here they are. RF is looking over the haul and appears to like what he sees. Top left is a Sharpie set, a five piece Pentel sign pen set from Target, A Pilot school set, below the Pilot set is a BEIFA pencil set from Big Lots. A large eraser and a Cello school set from Big Lots. Bottom left are two notebooks that have a 3D cover, a Westcott eraser, Pentel Slicci Metallic purple pen from Target, and a Zebra mechanical pencil also from Target. My JetPen order is a Zebra Z907, a Alvin set with 0.5 and 0.7mm pencils. At the end is a Sun Star 0.5mm pencil and a Stabilo pen in leaf green. Get out there and add all this stuff to your collection.

Here we have some great desk items from the 80s. I had posted the 221XX Swingline clear electric stapler back on 15 April 2011 but it needed another item to make a nice set. So here is a 1980s Unisonic clear telephone. The phone lights up when it rings. Unisonic made calculators, phones, radios and TVs. What a desk someone in the 80s would have had with this pair. Both work fine. Return to the 80s and add them both to your growing collection.

Old Pencils Plus

Here is one of the largest finds of great old pencils to ever hit our door down in the supply room. There is something like 65 pencils plus 5 boxes. Pencils for the most part are Faber Castell. A partial list includes FC 9000,FC 9000 with lead imported from American Zone Germany, FC 828 green. There are four others pencils that state FC 9000 but have a different design. FC 827 blue,FC 1443 red, Eberhard Faber 6535 indigo and 1 Venus. Most seem to be Faber Castell 9000s HB and Fine. Of the 4 tins 2 are made in New Jersey, 1 is made in Nurnberg Germany, one with the flowers can not read but appears to be made overseas. Cardboard box was empty but has nice graphics. May have a give away on some of these fine old pencils. Add them all to your collection. Just a update. It looks like these pencils are from the 40s to the 60s.

Desk Companion Ensemble

Here we have two great old Multi Color Desk Companion Ensembles. Late 50s or early 60s. The box would hold one plastic four slot pen holder and four pens, one in red, green, blue and black. These appear to be in great condition but do have some old tape on the pens. These are the original boxes and were made in the USA. I would need four cheap colored refills to get them working. Who would of had one of these sets on their desk? Who were they and what kind of job did they have that would require four colored pens? I will be using the stands but not the pens. Here we have some loose items that I have picked up recently. Starting on the left is a Autopoint two way pencil 0.5mm on the gray side and 0.9mm on the red side. Next is a Ativa calculator. I picked it up at Office Depot because they were only $2.00 each. Next are some new Sharpies. On the far right are two pencil boxes that open up on both the top and bottom. Also from Office Depot. Bottom left is my new Faber Castell TK Fine 0.7mm pencil. Next is one of the rarest Scripto pencils around, the US Government Electrographic, Skilcraft K780. Next is the Pentel Vicuna multi pen from JetPens. Last is the newest addition to the Barns and Noble line of pens. A large ball point with purple swirls that uses a Parker Jotter refill. Go get them and add them to your collection.

One of the most viewed posts here in the supply room has been the ScanCard System. They do not make them anymore but their are plenty of people around who still have them. A friend on the west coast sold me his system and I am glad to show it here. I received two notebook inserts for cards, a large box of blank cards and a notebook which I am going to use. I had been getting my cards made at Staples but the original cards are still the best. Once in awhile you will find these systems on eBay so keep looking. Add them all to your collection.

All kinds of stuff in this post. First let me introduce our newest member of the Supply Room staff, Rat Fink. Rat Fink was created by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and if you grew up in the 60s you knew Rat Fink. Good reading over at ratfink.com. I am also showing some of my Mad magazine collection in some of these posts. However the real star of this post is four dozen never used Scripto Push Button ball pens from the late 50s or early 60s. Most of these can be refitted with a new refill and they will work fine. Model on these should be T210 and the refills I use are the Fisher "1 for all" refill from your local stationary store or they sell them on eBay. Scripto Liquid Lead Pencil

Here we have two dozen T206 Scripto Liquid Lead Pencils. These would have been from the late 50s. All are brand new but as expected the erasers are hard. These are great examples of some of the first liquid pencil ink pens. I can not say that I ever used one. They use a standard refill so I should be able to some working and the eraser is the same as a Scripto K780. Originally sold for $1.00. SK-900 Pencil Box Calculator

Here we have two SK-900 Pencil Box Calculators still on their card and the calculators still work. From around the late 90s so they are starting to get old. These were made in China. Found these at a flea market and only paid $2.00 each for them. I was watching one on eBay that was not on the card and they wanted a whole lot more then $2.00 for it. Keep your eyes open at flea markets and add one to your collection.

Sterling Plastic Pencil Case

Every time I think I have seen all the variations of Sterling Plastic pencils boxes or cases, I find one I have never seen before. Here it is, a Sterling Plastic Pencil Care model 633 from around 1967. This case is in great shape and all the parts are there. There are three games that can be played on the top of the case by using the little pieces on the right. I have added so many more Sterling Plastic school and office supplies to my collection this past year that it may be time to lay it all out on the table. Add this case to your collection.

Cross Solo and Give Away

Many of us grew up getting and using Cross pens for many years. I have posted plenty of my Cross pens here on this blog but one of my favorites has been the discontinued Cross Solo in the clear colors. These pens still fit in with all the new pens and pencils hitting the market today. These pens use the standard Cross refills. I now have my set of ten for collecting purposes (I like sets of ten) but I also have a extra Blue and Green one. So lets give one away. New Old Clip Board

Here is a nice example of a 60 plus year old clip board. Some friends of mine here in Killeen Texas have an old warehouse that they and others have stored old stuff and records in for years. They let me go looking last week since they knew I liked old office supplies and because it was a office type business they owned so a looking I went. I found this old clip board which has the stripes from I guess two types of wood or from the way it was put together. All the old clip boards I have seen on eBay have these stripes. I only used soap and water then put on a polyethylene spray. If may be older then 60 years. Add one to your collection and keep looking for those old office supplies.

New 2mm Lead Holder

I am just getting started collecting some of the older 2mm lead holders and I ran across this gem on eBay. It is a 2mm pencil made from tulipwood. It operates like my Staedtler 925-25-2 which I do like. No eraser on this pencil and it is much thicker them the Staedtler. Gold trim sets it off. Add one to your growing 2mm pencil collection.

Unisonic XL-101

Here is a real nice desktop Unisonic XL-101 Calculator from about 1975. This one will be on my desk. Uses two D batteries, has a dusk cover and instruction sheet. The XL-101 model had a 10 digit green VFD display and it was one of the reasons I liked them better then the Texas Instrument calculators (except my TI 1265), because I could read the display. In the 70s you could always find the complete line of these great Unisonic calculators at your neighborhood K Mart store. Add them to your collection.

Scripto Collection As Of Today

Here we have my complete scripto pencil collection as of today. These 54 pencils (two are erasers) reflect about 60 plus years of scripto pencil history. I would bet that the K780 twist 1.1mm pencil was their best seller but the others were good to. I am still not sure how many pencils scripto made because each year I keep adding more to the collection. The newest pencil is in the top left. A scripto P6150, 0.5mm pencil made in Korea. I have more then one thanks to Germ over at Pencils 11 so my next post will be a Give Away for two of them. One of these days I am going to learn how to take better pictures. Anyway add all these pencils to your collection.

Another Old Scripto Pencil

Here we have another fine example of a late 50s scripto pencil. The blue portion is metal and the black parts are plastic. Model number ME-1 Scripto Atlanta USA on the side. The pencil uses a standard 4" 1.1mm lead. It should have an eraser on the end but it is in bad shape so I turned it up side down and inserted it back into the pencil and it works fine with its new little metal top on the pencil. Add one to your collection.

Here is another fine example of a New 1960s pencil case. This one is from the Empire Pencil Company in Shelbyville, Tennessee. This one had two Trusty NR#2 Empire pencils and a 6" plastic ruler made by Hasbro included. This case in in perfect condition and one should be in your collection.

Here are two nice old scriptos. On the left is the old Scripto Fiber Tip Pen called the Crazy Head. It has a whale on the top of the pen. Looks like there was a set of six. Early 60s I would think. Still in its original package. On the right is one of the last scripto pencils. A 0.5mm fat pencil called the Ultima model number P641. Still in its original package and that is where it will stay. Made in China, early 90s. Sad day for Scripto when they stopped making pencils in the USA. Add them all to your growing collection.

The Winners and Old Lead

The two winners of the Pentel S360 Gray Pen set was number 2, B2-Kun and number 6, Marcus. So if you two will send me a email at moose@hot.rr.com with a address I will get the pens in the mail. Now for old lead. Both Dave's Mechanical Pencils and Lung Sketching Scrolls have some outstanding posts on the newest item to collect,old lead in their original packaging. Well we also have some old lead down in the supply room. Here was a complete Scripto Lead Cabinet from the 40s to the 60s. This one is closer to the late 50s to early 60s. I have been using and trading some of the lead over the years but there are still 21 boxes of different grade writing lead and 40 boxes of colored lead. All 1.1mm which will fit the Scritpto K780, K770, K760 and the K750 pencils. This case still has the original inserts. The Scripto Lead Cabinet came in two types, one having more variety of color leads. This one in the picture was the NR 2 display with red, blue, green and yellow lead. Add all the old lead you can find to your collection.

Sherpa

While not the first to have one of these pens it is new to the supply room. I never did like caring a Sharpie in my pocket and here is the answer. The Sherpa body will hold Uni-ball Vision, Pilot P-700 V Razor, Papermate Liquid Espresso,and the Sharpie Accent Highlighters which is what I have in mine. The Sherpa comes with the Sharpie in the picture. I think I paid $30.00 bucks for mine. This is a great way to upgrade your highlighter. The Sherpa is on eBay and comes in many different colors. Add one or more to your collection.

New Pentel Cabinet and Give-Away

Here is a new/old Pentel Color Pen counter display case. These color pens are the Pentel S360s. I already had a set of 36 that you can see in the bottom right of the picture. I am not sure how old this case is but it is 25" tall,11"s wide and in great condition. This make five Pentel cabinets in the supply room. This new cabinet does have some interesting colors that I have not seen before. In the standard set of 36 pens there are two different color grays. This cabinet has fifteen shades of gray. I could only find two shades on the US Pentel website. They appear to be for those that need different shades of gray for drawing. Since I can not use that many, I put together two sets of gray(15) for a give-away. Leave a comment by the 23rd of April. I will try and make sure they work. These pens were not stored point down so some are dry. When these pens dry up they are still collectible. US only. Add them all to your collection.

Acco Swingline Stapler

While I was unable to post I spent some time down in the basement of the old supply room and came up with this prize. Here is a 1980s Acco Swingline 221xx Clear Electric Stapler. It appears to be in perfect condition with no cracks. It works on both batteries or electric plug. The red button on top is pushed to open the tray where the staples go. Right below the staple tray is where paper is inserted to be stapled. These working staplers are highly collectible. There are some videos on youtube showing them in action. Add one to your growing collection.

No Pictures Today

This no picture thing has been going on all week. Something at Goggle or Blogger. Whatever it is, it sucks. I did find the new BIC 4 way at Target. This one is updated with a rubber grip and is made in Japan. Since there are no pictures I will list the top five posts since 2009 when I started the blog. Number 1 was Scan Cards, 2nd most looked at post was Parker Jotters, then Lindy Pens, Hallmark Pens and last was School Supplies. Interesting.

Sterling Plastic Creepy Sharpener Collection

I have been after these for some time. The white rat is made by the Empire Pencil Company but the three others are all Sterling Plastic. The picture of the spider on a card was for sale on EBay for $25.00 and I did not buy it. Then came a long the sharpeners off card and I jumped. These were very popular with the kids and me. Made of soft plastic with all the legs able to bend so many of these have survived 40 plus years. It is best to try and pick these up on the card but carded items are getting harder to find and are more expensive then the loose ones. Add them all to your collection.

Sheaffer Ulta Fineline 0.5mm Pencil

Let me start by saying I not only have never seen one of these before but this has to be the most complicated 0.5mm pencil ever made. I would think it is from the 70s and it was made by the Sheaffer Pen Company. I include the instructions because they are detailed. The pencil works well and it comes with three floating lead protectors. One is in the pencil. As with other pencils, lead is stored under the eraser but only for storage. You put one piece of lead in each of the three lead protectors. Once one is loaded in the pencil the extender rod pushes the lead out through the lead protector. When lead is low you will see a red signal which will appear in the lead supply indicator window. The thing does work well but to many clicks on the chrome plunger cap and the whole lead protector will start to come out. Add one to your collection if you can find one.

Eversharp Utility Ball Pen

Every now and then something comes a long that takes you back to the late 60s and early 70s. This cared Eversharp Medium Point Utility Ball Pen is one of those items. The Eversharp Pen Company was a Division of the Parker Pen Company which had bought Eversharp back in 1957. This pen and card were made in the US. The best part of this carded pen is the picture of the young lady at work with pen and notebook in hand. These type items are getting harder to find. Most everyday pen and pencils used in the past 40 years can be found on eBay and other places for sale. Some work many do not. This carded pen with a picture is another story. The card tells a story of our stationary history from years past. The young lady does have the same type pen in her hand that is on the card but in red. Many companies to include Fisher Space pens have made this style of ball pen. Add them to your collection.

Two new items for the collection. On the left is a BIC fine point from the 60s or early 70s still on the card. The card said .25 cents but the discount sticker from Gibsons has the new price at .21 cents. On the right is a Sterling Plastic # 582 6" Protractor in pink. This item is from the 50s and had cost .10 cents. The card and the protractor are in perfect shape. I plan on using this one. You can not keep something this nice just sitting around on the shelves. Pentel Case Full

Now we have three. Here is my newest vintage Pentel Display case. Got it for less then $20.00 plus shipping. This one like my other large Pentel case holds 72 pens or pencils. This one will have only pencils. The case opens from the front which makes it easier to move the pencils around. The supply room is looking more and more like a pen and pencil store. New Pentel Eraser

Here we have three new Pentel ZE-80 erasers. Very close to the round ZE-21 or ZE-22 eraser and the tri eraser ZE-15 but these ZE-80s have a square eraser. It was just a matter of time before Pentel had these clic erasers in all shapes for all needs. Same operation as all the other Pentel Clic erasers. Nice colors. Add them all to your eraser collection.

Lindy Steno Fine Point

Here we have two examples of The famous Lindy Steno Fine Point #467-F that sold for .49 cents. These are a little older then the other examples I have posted because the have the logo and where they were made on the far right end of the pens. They were made in Culver City California. At least 40 years old these two appear to have never been used. One of them now works with the new refill I put in. These had the gold plated pocket clips while most of my other examples had the silver color. Add them to your collection. In their day Lindy ruled.

New BIC Pens

Here we have some new old items to add to the supply room collection. They are some great examples of past BIC pens. On the left is a real nice carded set from the 70s. A BIC Accountant pen with two free BIC crystals. The card is in great shape. Next is a set from France which I have never seen here in the States. Orange BIC Rounds in three colors. The orange barrels are nice. Last are two rare BIC Wavelengths that glow in the dark. Just put them by the light and they are ready to go. They just do not make pens like these anymore. Add them all to your collection.

Pedigree Compass

Here we have a 1970s Pedigree Compass. Pedigree is owned by the Empire Pencil Corporation in Shelbyville Tennessee. The compass itself was made in Taiwan. The compass and the card are in great shape. We all used these growing up and one should be in your collection.

On the left is the four pack of Staedtler Textsurfer Classic Highlighters. These have been my favorite for many years and I do like the plastic case they come in. This set has yellow, green pink and blue. Next is a old two hole Rotring pencil holder/case in blue. I have my two Rotring 600s in the case. The case is in great shape and I don't think I have seen one before. On the top is my new Faber Castell TK9400 2mm pencil. Next in line is my new Rotring 500 0.7mm pencil. It maybe plastic but it is a good one. Rotring Tikky stick eraser in next. I put my Pentel ZE15 in the picture because it is the newer version in clear green. Do like the clear ones. Last is a Helix 2mm all metal pencil. I like this pencil because it advances the 2mm lead one clic at a time like my Staedtler 925-25-20. Add all this new stuff to your collection.

Sterling Plastic T Square Plus

Here we have two new old items for the collection. On the left is a hard to fine Sterling Plastic #640 Blackboard eraser that can be used wet or dry. On the right is a wood grain Sterling Plastic #641 T-Square with 12" ruler. Both are from the mid 70s, are about 35 years old and are in great condition. I may open up and use the T-Square. Add them both to your collection.

2mm Lead and Pencils

It seems I have more lead then pencils. Here awhile back I saw these Faber Castell drawing leads in these nice clear green tubes so I jumped on them. These must be old because Faber Castell uses different container for their 2mm lead today. Most all these tubes are full. I have used some of the lead and they work fine. May give away a few of them if someone is interested. I know there are plenty of 2mm fans out there. As for the pencils go most are current models but I will point out the Staedtler 925-25-20 on the left and the much older Universe 200 with the lead indicator down the side of the pencil on the right. add them all to your collections.

Here we have two new items in the supply room. On the left is a eraser for the Pilot Hi-Tec-C. Have not seen one before and it was fun to see who would be first on the shelf with it. Picked it up at www.Jstationery.com. On the right is the Pentel all metal Energel alloy pen in black. I also found it in pink. This pentel surprised me because I found it in a local stationery catalog at www.perryop.com. Never seen either one of these new items before. Add them both to your collection.

Unisonic Calculators

Here we have the end of an era. On the left we have two nice old unisonic calculators from the 70s and on the right we have two fairly new unisonic calculators. The old ones still work. We have the smaller 940 made in Japan and the larger 1040 made in Taiwan. They were sold for many years through K-Mart. These calculators had the large VFD green display which were easy to read. The ones in the package are made in China and are no longer sold in K-Mart stores. These new ones should just about be the end of unisonic. If you can find one of the old ones with the blue, orange and white buttons and the green VFD display add it to your collection.

Here we have two Sterling Plastic architect's Scales model number 682. These rulers are from the 60s, US made and are in great shape. The cards are dated 1965. In the 60s Sterling Plastic only used red and white colors on their packaging. 70s they added blue to the packaging. Sterling Plastic was the leader from the 50s to the 70s in plastic low cost school and office supplies. Add them all to your collection.

Old Pen and Pencil Sets

Here are some new to the supply room old pen and pencil sets. Top left is an interesting pen set. There are two ball point pens. No name brand but they are 14K gold Filigree perfumed pens. The barrels have the gold design and I should be able to get them to work. 60s or late 50s I would think. The next two are pen and pencil sets with no name brand but the pencils are 0.5mm so that should put them in the 70s. Bottom left is a nice Scripto fountain pen with pencil set. I have a pencil like this already in the collection but I still do not have a model number for it. Scripto did have some pencils that were only sold as sets and I believe this would be one of them. Late or early 60s The fountain pen is a bladder filled pen. Last is a Sheaffer set. The ball point has what is considered the best click mechanism ever made. They are good pens. Since I already have some sets like this so if there is some intest I may get the pen working and do a give away. The pencil works fine but the eraser is hard. Add them all to your collection.

I want to thank Dora from Australia who sent me this nice package of BIC pencils and Staedtler colored ball point stick pens model 432s. These pens are in the traditional three sided shape and are nice. Never seen them before. Two of the packages of BIC pencils are made in Australia with the third package made in France. All great additions to the ever growing collection. Thanks Dora.

New Pentel Pencils

Here we have two new pentel pencils. First is the white A811. The roller is a pentel K611 and the ball point is a B810. The pencil has a sliding sleeve and does well in your pocket. On the right is the pentel S477. All metal except for the blue ring showing it is a 0.7mm. I wish pentel would make more all metal pens and pencils. Add them all to your collection.

More Good Stuff

Here we have two packages worth of new items from Ricardo. For the past year Ricardo and I have been exchanging some pens and pencils. My second package to him is still being put together but I just got his so I though I would post it. Have not even been able to go through it all but I do like the gold and silver plastic BIC pens at the bottom. Great additions to the collection. Add all of this to your collection. Thanks Ricardo.

K-Mart Stapler

Here is a nice old K-Mart stapler with a stapler puller and refills. Early 70s I would think. The cardboard and plastic are not in the best of shape anymore. When I was in K-Mart the other day I looked for store brand office supplies and could not fine any. K-Mart had some good stuff in the old days like the Unisonic calculators with there distinctive blue, silver and orange colors. If you can find any old K-Mart office supplies pick them up and add them to your collection.

More BICs

Here we have two yellow fine point BICs with one still in its original package. Nice additions and they can be refilled. On the right is a real nice BIC package display case that came with two original BIC boxes but could hold four. At the time the BIC pens were .19 cents. The display case has slots on the back and side that appear to allow the plastic stand to be hooked to a larger display. Great additions so get yourself some.
